- [TWO SCAN SPEEDS AND ONE BUTTON] The switch reads OFF, ON and S. ON runs the normal quick scan for working through a pile of patch leads; S slows the flashing down so you can actually watch the sequence and catch an out-of-order pair. There is nothing to configure: plug the lead in and the scan starts. Runs on a 9V battery, which is not supplied with the tester.
- [THE REMOTE SLIDES OFF FOR RUNS ALREADY IN THE WALL] The remote unit clips onto the back of the main tester for bench work and slides free when you need it at the far end of a run. Both the main unit and the remote carry both socket types, so you are not hunting for the right end.
- [EIGHT INDIVIDUAL PIN LIGHTS, NOT A PASS OR FAIL LAMP] The LEDs step through conductors 1 to 8 in sequence on both units. All eight lighting in step means the run is wired straight through; if number 3 stays dark on both ends, conductor 3 is open, and lights out of order tell you the pairs are crossed. That is how you find which wire is at fault instead of only learning that something is.
