The perfect solution to dog containment is an invisible dog fence. An invisible dog fence is attractive alternatives to conventional dog pens or privacy fences. Rather than enclosing your dog to with a physical boundary, a wireless electric collar responds to the electrical system to maintain your canine within your property. This method provides a cost effective, long term solution for keeping pets in compliance with your rules and regulations.

Invisible dog fence systems work via radio frequencies. These signals communicate with the collar and electric transmitter on the pet's collar and transmit instructions to it. The receiver of the signal can then instruct the wireless fencing system on the perimeter of your yard and surrounding property. This system transmits boundaries on a wireless basis and utilizes radio waves for communication and power distribution.

In the past, if you wanted to reinforce a boundary using an invisible dog fence system you would have to dig a small hole in the yard and place the transmitter and receiver within it. This meant that any animals that were out of the yard would trigger the boundary alarm and the correction signal sent to the collar would engage the dog. You could then choose to manually trigger the area or activate a shock of some sort. However, this was cumbersome and often impractical.

Now, there are effective alternatives to physically enclosing dogs. For example, many manufacturers now manufacture a popular, lightweight portable electronic fence called the petsafe basic in-ground fence. These units provide a safe and effective alternative to physically constructing a no-run, no-walk zone around your property. With these units, you can utilize a remote control to activate and deactivate the perimeter and even adjust the correction level.

These types of fences are extremely simple in construction. They consist of a transmitter, an invisible dog fence obstacle (such as a post) and a receiver, which is placed within the immediate perimeter of the property. The transmitter emits a mild electric shock when any animal crosses within five feet of the wire. The receiver on the other hand registers the presence of an animal and activates an audible correction tone, which is connected to a button on the transmitter. Both the transmitter and the receiver can be placed within a few feet of each other, on the lawn or near the garden, and the distance can be adjusted using a remote control.

There are some inherent advantages associated with the invisible dog fence. First, these types of fences require less wire to set up than traditional fenced systems. It is also important to note that most of these units are battery operated. This means that you don't need a complicated installation process. All you need to do is plug the unit into an electrical outlet and then start walking through your yard using the invisible wire system.

Some of the best wireless invisible dog fence systems available can be installed by professional dog trainers. However, if you are not comfortable with this you can purchase collars that are ready to use from a pet store. You can choose from several different types of collars, such as: static correction collar, trigger activated shock collar and graduated shock collar. All the types of collars have different levels of corrective action. When the collar receives a corrective signal, it will either release an audible sound, or activate a mild electric shock on the pet.

When a dog gets a static correction they get a negative response from walking over to the side of the invisible wire. However, if the dog gets a very high correction (something that is too much for the average owner to safely administer), they will receive a non-releasing static correction. The non-releasing correction causes the dog to panic, which causes them to stop walking over to the side of the wire. On the other hand, if a dog receives a high correction they get a strong correction that makes the dog stop in their tracks.
